My Father read Helios biography before he passed last November. He said I was just like him with my 50 years in training.I was born October 1st same as Great Grand Master was.I wish I could have met him and I miss my father badly. That would have been awesome growing up in the GRACIE family God Bless
As a Jiu Jitsu practitioner with a disability I love this. Each disability has it's own different challenges. This is why I love Jiu Jitsu so much. It's like trying to solve a puzzle each time I try to adapt a technique to suit my abilities and my game. I don't have full use of my legs but I have a strong upper body. I amaze myself and others with my ingenuity and find that the partners that work with me on the mat love brainstorming with me on my journey.
Very inspiring!
Rickson, the clarity of your mind is as impressive as your technique -- perhaps one and the same. Loved this video and the thoughtfulness you put into being a master teacher.
Congratulations to Master Rickson for his perfect approach to the topic! As long time instructor for the disabled I can confirm that this is the perfect and most promising approach to train and support handicapped individuals! Since there are so many different disabilities as there are handicapped athletes it is paramount to see and feel all individual limitations of every single athlete. Only with such a teaching method you are able to succeed in finding a perfectly adapted and for the individual best possible JJ. With your very personal handicaps or no disabilities at all you have to really “feel“ the limits based on the disabilities of your student. This is the best way to get the most benefit out of the training.
Thank you for the valuable feedback Dr. Sascha, and for supporting JJGF and Rickson.Academy.
